Business and law supervisors

Higher Degree by Research

Research in business is led by professors in marketing, management and economics. Our researchers have published a range of internationally-recognised research on global sustainability and development, business strategy, branding, marketing and communication, and management.

Corporate law research focuses on corporate responsibility, international trade, intellectual property and governance. Criminal law and human rights research focuses on terrorism, extradition, refugees, human trafficking, law reform, penal policy and more. We have ongoing projects on women and law, youth justice, assisted dying and transnational issues, and our researchers are leading the field on Aboriginal customary law and legal systems.


David Low

Professor David Low

David holds a Doctorate in Marketing and Management and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors as well as a CPA. His research interests include social marketing, business sustainability, marketing ethics, and market orientation

Dr Maneka Jayasinghe

Dr Maneka Jayasinghe is the Chair of Business discipline at CDU. Maneka is an applied economist who specialises in economic issues in the Asia-Pacific region. Her areas of interests and expertise also extend to empirical and policy analysis using econometrics and microeconomic models.

Muhammad holds a Doctorate in Marketing and has been associated with the teaching and practice of marketing for over the last 15 years.

Professor Steven Greenland

Professor Steven Greenland leads the Business discipline at CDU. Steven has supervised successfully completed Business PhDs that have involved qualitative and quantitative methods, conducted in both developed and emerging markets.

Bhanu Bhatia

Dr Bhanu Bhatia

Bhanu Bhatia is a Lecturer in the College of Business and Law specializing in Economics. She holds a PhD in Economics from Macquarie University and Economic (Honours) from Adelaide University. Her research focuses on inequality incorporating gender, microfinance, diffusion, social capital and health. Her work is trans disciplinary and her research incorporates network analysis, econometrics and qualitative techniques.

Professor Indra Abeysekera is Professor of Accounting, and Chair of Accounting and Finance, having previously held academic posts at University of Wollongong, The University of Sydney, and Macquarie University.

Dr Shawgat S. Kutubi

Dr. Shawgat S. Kutubi is an industry-focused researcher in Accounting and Finance with over twelve years of experience. Shawgat has research experiences in collaboration with financial institutions and not-for-profit organisations and has research expertise in qualitative and quantitative methods.

Dr Michael Odei Erdiaw-Kwasie

Dr Michael Odei Erdiaw-Kwasie is a Research Active Lecturer in the Business and Accounting Discipline at Charles Darwin University. He holds a PhD in Sustainability Management from the University of Southern Queensland and an Honours Certificate of Achievement in Corporate Social Responsibility from the University of Pennsylvania

Dr Alan Berman

Dr Berman is an Associate Professor of law at CDU with a longstanding interest in the regulation of hate crimes.

  • gender and the law
  • sexuality and the law
  • international law and racial hate speech regulation
  • comparative constitutional law.

Professor David Price

David Price is Professor in Public International Law and Intellectual Property Law at CDU, and holds degrees in law as well as international relations, industrial history, and Chinese.

  • intellectual property
  • development of intellectual property regimes and their enforcement in the Middle East.
  • intersection of intellectual property law, public international law, and international trade agreements.

Dr Jenny Ng

Dr Jenny Ng

Dr Jenny Ng’s research focus is on the intersection between IT Law and Human Rights, IT/ IP law and ecommerce. She has won several prizes for her research. Her international monograph has contributed to the domain name policy in Australia.

Dr Susan Bird

Dr Susan Bird

Dr Susan Bird is a Senior Lecturer in law. She is an interdisciplinary research scholar. Her interests lie broadly in law and legal philosophy, in particular legal geographies, and making spaces more inclusive. Susan is interested in the way law can be employed to address environmental issues, in particular food waste.
